Allegany College of Maryland invites applications for part-time faculty members to teach Computer Literacy, Computer Logic, and C++ Programming courses. Daytime and some evening classes may be available at the Cumberland Campus for the 2010-2011 academic year. The Fall 2010 semester begins August 23, 2010, and ends December 13, 2010. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with coursework in Computer Science is required. A Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred. Previous teaching experience is desirable. PATHWAYS FOR SUCCESS PROGRAM
Allegany College of Maryland invites applications for the Director of the Pathways for Success Program (a federally funded TRIO program) for the 2010-2011 academic year. The position is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education that requires application for renewal every five years. The director is responsible for organizing and managing special support services for academically and/or economically disadvantaged college students including tutoring, academic, career, and transfer advising, and special services for students with disabilities. Minimum qualifications are as follows:
• a master’s degree in Educational Administration, Student Personnel Services, Human Resources Management, Educational Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Education, or related field;
• sensitivity to and/or experience working with academically under-prepared students who are low-income, first generation in college, and/or disabled;
• effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds; and
• intermediate computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and electronic communication are required.
Preferred qualifications include:
• three to five years of administrative and supervisory experience
• experience as a disadvantaged (first-generation or low-income) or disabled student
• an understanding of budgetary matters, federal regulations, and policies and procedures of the U.S. Department of Education
• previous grant writing and grant management experience
Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Some travel is required to the college’s branch campuses and to statewide, regional, and national meetings. Salary is $37,460 to $44,970 with a full range of benefits. Position is anticipated to begin in October. Full-Time Helpdesk Coordinator
Allegany College of Maryland seeks to fill a full time 12 month/year position for the position of Helpdesk Coordinator. Position duties include the major responsibility for (1) Supervision of college Helpdesk operations including Helpdesk technical staff, (2) technology support for students and employees, (3) identification and troubleshooting of a variety of technical problems, and (4) light clerical duties. Associate’s degree required but bachelor’s degree preferred in computer science, MIS, or related field. Candidate must possess strong communication and customer service skills. Candidate must have a strong working knowledge in a variety of hardware/software platforms including PC/Mac, Windows, and Office. The successful candidate must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task. Starting salary range is $22,503 to $27,015 based upon education and experience. Allegany College of Maryland seeks applicants for a 12-month, part-time/hourly administrative assistant for the Cumberland Campus in the Finance Department. This position is for 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The part-time administrative assistant is responsible for general office duties, scheduling, data entry, processing accounts payable invoices as well as other secretarial/clerical tasks. An Associate in Arts degree in Office Technologies or a related field is required. Prior Finance Department experience and computer experience preferred. Position requires effective organization and communication skills. Applicants must have ability to perform effectively and efficiently under high customer demand. The person filling this position must be able to interact with students, faculty, staff, and the general public in a positive, constructive manner. Position starts July 1, 2010 or sooner. Pay range depending on education and experience is $8.86 to $10.75 per hour. The Associate Support Staff positions (Class C) would work approximately 16 hours per week.
